One of my main goals in life is to live in Dubai, is it really that glamorous as its made out to be?
Im 23 and live in a London in the UK, and with my life ahead of me, all I really want to do is to live in UAE. Its portrayed as a beautiful city and it is my dream to live there, but is it really as glamorous as they say?
The other thing is How expensive would it actually be to live in Dubai? And what kind of well paid careers are available in the city? Im really interested in Fashion and Dance, and feel that Dubai would be a great place to start off, any ideas?
P.S I have a cat, how will that affect me, yes I have to take him

dear its better u stay in London Dubai has become a concrete jungle this is not to break Ur dream but to Wake u up from Ur dreams its very expensive and the climate here is miserable, even if u want to come there r many companies offering good Sal to females u can try. Come for a short period i.e. for 2 years and check if u can live. i bet u will 100% run away its giood if u came as a tourist. bye take care god bless.

I partially agree to Devils here for the fact that you can come here for a visit and check out the place yourself and explore job oppurchunities in your field.Come after July or right beforemid may,because the heat is already scorching up.Rentals are really expensive here and climates is hopeless for outdoors during 3 months( which will not affect you much if you are not much of an outdoorer).But the city is really safe and very broad mentality to all nations.Well its really cool.But the real measure is for you to take.About the cat i am not sure how u will take care of him during summer.But yes i know of people who do that.One of my Egyptian friends had a cat.If you rent out a centralised ac appartment i guess wouldnot be a problem.A studio will range from 35000 Dhs – 90000 Dhs per year.Just to fetch u an idea of the rental.You can see all about Dubai in this site.

Life is excellent in Dubai. Let me give you some facts, good and bad:
1. Tax heaven, no direct taxes at all
2. Excellent amenities
3. Excellent cummunity, multicultural society
4. Good weather, slightly hotter but you will never get to know
5. Very good economy and things are 75% cheaper than london
6. No racism or crime
7. very coperative government.
8. Very good salaries, even in 8000 dhs one can live easily and can have car, house, groccessories and everything
9. Its almost a centre of the world and almost every airline is present
Some negative aspects:
1. Indirect taxes like parking or highway toll charge
2. Huge traffic jams, but government is introducing trams and will be up & running by 2009 or 2010.
3. crime is less than even 1%
4. Its not immigration, its only residency
6. IT & some other professions can give you as high as 50k dhs salary per month
7. Some private employers are not good and everytime create problems for their employers interms of no salary or late salary or deputation
No issues in keeping pets. Also, every ind of food is available so chill. Remember, its always better that you first come for a month or so and find out then shift for few years and decide yourself because every person has his own need and requirement, likes & dislikes.

There’s lot of British here and they don’t seem to want to leave. If you are adaptable and can get accustomed to living in a completely different culture you may like it also. It’s not that Westernised here at all.

Some people,would die to be in the UK.
Its really crazy when people think life would be better abroad.
I would advise to come on holiday first.
