The Dubai Shopping Festival provides the perfect opportunity to indulge in some serious bargain hunting and if you want to make the most of your spending money then you should look for cheap flights to the emirate.

Once a year for 32 days, thousands of retail outlets reduce their prices by up to 75 per cent and many more travel to the city to set up stalls and trade their goods. Shopaholics will be spoiled for choice if they head to the Global Village, where many of the retailers have their stands, while Dubai’s malls will be bustling with activity.

The dates of this retail extravaganza vary slightly every year, but in 2011 it will all begin on January 20th and run until February 20th. Although it was originally set up to benefit retailers in the region in 1996, it has since developed to include entertainment and exhibitions on a grand scale.

Of course, as it is the Dubai Shopping Festival, you should certainly ensure you hit the stores and you won’t be disappointed with the range of items on offer at reduced prices.

Everything from electrical goods and clothes to jewelry and cars will be available – so make sure you save up some extra spending money if you are looking for something in particular!

And you will also have the chance to experience some of Dubai’s other attractions if you can tear yourself away from the shops. Be sure to visit the city’s highest building – Burj Khalifa – or hit one of Dubai’s many beaches for some relaxation by the sea.
